Fuel type is only one part of the system decision. Availability, load profile, installation site, emissions and sound requirements, maintenance and integration into the existing infrastructure must be assessed together.
When does a diesel generator fit?
Diesel generator sets are frequently considered for standby, emergency and project applications where fuel is to be stored on site. Tank capacity, refuelling concept, fuel ageing, runtime, maintenance and local requirements must be included in the plan.
Selection must not be based on a kVA value alone. Load steps, motor starting, consumer structure, PRP/ESP operating profile, ambient temperature, altitude and sound limits influence the actual configuration.
When does a gas generator fit?
Gas generator sets may be suitable when natural gas or LPG is reliably available at the required quality and pressure. Gas type, supply reliability, gas train, installation concept, ventilation, exhaust routing and controls require project-specific coordination.
PRP and ESP for gas generators are also tied to the operating profile and conditions in the current manufacturer datasheet. An available gas connection alone does not establish suitability.
